My long art sabbatical has given me space to do some deep healing, make art, tend to myself, receive from my community, and explore what feels aligned in this next season. Something that came with ease is the idea of holding space once a month in the evening when we can gather and create together. Even as an artist, I can easily be swept up with all the elements of life and have a hard time dedicating space to create and play. So I thought it would be fun to set up a consistent time once a month for us to create - not for work or for others. The space is for you - for us.

The goal is for us to have consistency in setting aside time to tap into our creativity and play without expectations of outcome. Meeting ourselves in honesty and compassion can come with so much resistance especially in this white supremest society. So let’s do it together and be reminded that we aren’t alone on this healing journey.

How each gathering will look like: I will set up the space through grounding and orienting the group to the intention of reclaiming art as an act of love, joy, liberation, self compassion, and anything that you want to be rooted in that evening. Then, for the next hour or so, we will be creating art - with your video on or off. Feel free to work on your existing personal projects or create new works of art. After the art session, those who don’t want to participate in group shares can say goodbye and sign off, and those who would like to participate in the group shares can listen and/or share their experience for the last 30 mins. It will be simple and hopefully deeply nourishing for all of us.

  • Guided meditation

  • Time of creating - painting/drawing/writing/moving.  Feel free to bring your personal projects or create new art.

  • After the art portion, I will invite those who don’t want to participate in group shares to log off. Everything is optional prioritizing your own agency and ease.

  • For the last half an hour, I will open the space for those who would like to share about about their experience/feelings/thoughts of the art process. You are welcome to share, listen and participate in a way that feels good for you.

  • As to minimize pressure or performance, you will not be required to show the group what you are creating.

Last thing, don’t hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or ways that I can make things feel more easeful for you.
