I’m Tiffany Wong and I host live online workshops dedicated to holding space for BIPOC - Femmes, Women, GNC, Enby, and Trans Folx - from an anti-oppression and trauma informed lens. I believe that participating in collective healing and cultivating creativity is a great way to practice self compassion and radical joy. The workshops are a great place for those who seek healing that dismantles internal and external oppression that prioritizes BIPOC health and wellness.

Requirement: No artistic prerequisites required! Just showing up as your authentic self is necessary.

Supplies you need:

  • Your favorite journal

  • Any art supplies you have on hand. It can be painting, drawing, creative writing, or any art medium that you feel drawn to. I use the term “art” liberally - it can be anything that ignites your imagination and creativity.

“color study - inner child edition” DESCRIPTION:

Key words for this series are: JOY, PLAY, REST. Personally I always find myself swinging in-between seasons of deep heaviness and then remembering to give myself permission to have fun or pursue joy, play, and rest. The challenge is to integrate joy, play, rest in every season. Every season have different intensities of grief and healing from layered traumas. It is so necessary and helpful to give those deep elements attention and support, but practicing to take breaks is important. Being in this for the long haul journey resisting white supremacy and it’s systems of oppression means that we need to individually and collectively practice doing this work in a sustainable way. We are not alone even though it might feel like we are - with the burden of the world on our shoulders.

In this workshop series, I’m going to structure the space where we can come as we are and give ourselves space and permission to fulfill our needs. And we are going to practice tapping into those needs through being attentive to our inner child/children. I’m going to share my perspectives of our inner thriving and wounded children. Another element of creating gentle structure is posing a color for us and our inner child to explore - allowing curiosity, playfulness, and opportunity for each participant to tap into their own embodied medicine.

An important part of all my workshops is approaching it from a trauma informed lens meaning that at ever step there is agency and an honoring of that agency. You will never be forced to face something you don’t want to or share something that doesn’t feel like a full bodied yes. So when the invitation to share with the group, the container feels consensual and hopefully nourishing.

YOU CAN EXPECT A COMBINATION OF THESE ELEMENTS:

  • A centering talk about the focus of the week

  • Guided meditations

  • Journal prompts

  • Time of creating - painting/drawing/writing/moving.  This is not an art tutorial, but I will share how to approach creating art for the purpose of healing and being embodied.

  • Optional sharing time through video/chat box

  • Simple breath work

As to minimize pressure or performance, you will not be required to show the group what you are creating.

If you can’t make the live session, you will have access to the recording. The first meeting is mandatory - to cultivate trust among the group.

*Note: I am not a licensed (art) therapist. Although I believe that healers do not have to have institutional degrees to do healing work, this is not a space where I can provide you personalized guidance.  This practice isn’t designed to replace therapy of any kind. Please consult your personal therapist/psychiatrist/healer for mental, emotional, spiritual support.

“Intro to Color Study + Embodiment” DESCRIPTION:

Adapted from the “Guide to healing through creating for Black and Brown Folx” by Tiffany Wong

The last workshop series ended mid october 2020, and I thought I was going to take a quick break from facilitation. My healing process and art practice had other needs. So I gave myself permission to honor those needs, which wasn’t without resistance and guilt. I saw so clearly that I was at the crossroads of either pushing through to meet my own expectations of the future OR practice embodying that self trust I talk about all the time. The crossroad asked me if I’m invested in the short or long term. With support from my community, I felt it in my bones that this is the season to practice vulnerability and choose integrity without shortcuts.

I’ve been sitting with what I want to offer and how I can further the BIPOC liberation movement. My decision has been greatly informed by my extended pause from facilitation and embodiment of what I want to share. So here I am sharing with you an introductory 3 week series that will pave the way for a longer program starting in the spring!

Intro to Color Study and Embodiment is a space where you can meet yourself exactly as you are and deepen your connection with your worthiness through art. I’m going to provide structures where you can experience the healing you can provide yourself - because of the lineage and roots you embody. Each week we will focus on a color, where it will be a playground for you to discover your inner wisdom and medicine. There will be opportunities to share your experiences with BIPOC who are also committed to their decolonial healing as well as witness their embodiment of healing.

Something I prioritize is enabling your sovereignty in every step of the way. For example, if you want the experience to be more self reflective that doesn’t involve social expansion through sharing, I would encourage and honor that choice.

“Inner child healing + Creativity” Workshop Description:

Adapted from the “Guide to healing through creating for Black and Brown Folx” by Tiffany Wong

During this series, we will practice nourishing and reparenting our inner child that didn’t get the protection/love/acceptance that they needed. Our time together will integrate alot of space to titrate between pressing into the tender places in our past and giving ourselves permission to just be. You will have to opportunity to practice doing this work at your own pace (more importantly - at your inner child’s pace) and get comfortable with it being slow. With art, we are going to ignite that child like curiosity and playfulness - providing our inner child a chance to play without having to explain themselves. This space welcomes and celebrates all and any of your experiences whether it’s grief or joy or anger or celebration.

This deep healing is decolonial, because BIPOC healing is against colonialism that tells us that we’re not worthy of thriving. Whether it’s inside family dynamics or outside the home, systems of oppression and intergenerational trauma can be perpetuated. Integrating embodied wisdom and knowing how to resource with the collective is decolonial healing. This is liberation work.

Something different that I’m implementing in this series is creating more spaciousness. The weeks will alternate between absorbing information + pressing into inner child healing AND prioritizing ease with play + creativity.

Week 1 + 2 Finding your inner child

Week 3 + 4 Reparenting your inner child

Week 5 + 6 Integration + nourishment

You can expect a combination of these elements:

  • A short talks about the topic of the week

  • Guided meditations

  • Journal prompts

  • Time of creating - painting/drawing/writing/moving.  This is not an art tutorial, but I will teach how to approach creating art for the purpose of healing and being embodied.

“Ancestors” Workshop Description:

Adapted from the “Guide to healing through creating for Black and Brown Folx” by Tiffany Wong

In this 4 part series through Zoom, we are going to explore history, lineage, and connection to our ancestors in a way that serves our decolonial healing. Reclaiming things that are rightfully ours is so important. Doing it together even though our backgrounds are different is tapping into our collective healing - which all of our ancestors are familiar with.  I won’t lead you through your particular lineage/heritage, but I will give you guidance in how to cultivate curiosity and rituals that will support you. Grounded by the elements of water, earth, fire, and air, we are going to create our own rituals that remind us of our ancestral support and that will help us cultivate more connection with them.

For those who are mixed ethnicity and feel that tension between your ancestors, I want you to remember that you are whole and deserving of every ounce of healing. This applies to everyone: not all of our ancestors are in line with us.  I don’t want any disillusionment that ALL of our ancestors are for us and did not participate in perpetuating oppression whether it’s within themselves and externally with other people groups.  We call on our ancestors who were aligned to their authentic selves and prayed for healing.  We call on our ancestors who are actively guiding us in furthering their decolonial labor and desires.

During each session this is what you can expect:

  • A short talk about the topic of the week

  • Guided meditation

  • Journal prompts

  • Time of creating - painting/drawing/writing/moving.  This is not an art tutorial, but I will teach how to approach creating art for the purpose of healing and being embodied.

  • Sharing time through video/chat box

  • End with gratitude and breath work

Month of June 2020
For Black, Indigenous, and People of Color ONLY

3 Part Series: June 13, 20, 27 . 11:00am-12:30pm CST

Adapted from the “Guide to healing through creating for Black and Brown Folx” by Tiffany Wong

In June, I will be hosting three workshop through Zoom, where I will guide you through a time of decolonial healing through art. I chose the theme “Grief +,” because we are ALWAYS in a state of grief. Whether it is grieving the loss of people we love, the loss of people in our communities, our childhood traumas, adult traumas, climate change, the state of our colonial society - and pandemic losses - jobs, stability, health. SO many things to grieve. It can feel overwhelming. Something I believe is important on this decolonial journey is the importance to honor the grief, know that it can express itself in many different ways, and to give ourselves permission to have it integrated into our lives along with other experiences and emotions. I titled the series “Grief +,” and the “+” signifies other elements that can help us extend more self compassion and release guilt/shame.

Here are the themes that we will be focusing on:

Grief + Rest, Grief + Pleasure, Grief + Imagination

During each session this is what you can expect:

  • A short talk about the topic of the week

  • Guided meditation

  • Journal prompt and 5 mins of writing

  • Time of creating - painting/drawing/writing.  This is not a painting tutorial, but I will teach how to approach creating art for the purpose of healing and being embodied

  • Sharing time through video/chat box

  • End with gratitude and breath work

As to minimize pressure or performance, you will not be required to show the group what you are creating.

If you can’t make the live session, you will have access to the recording.
